Many of the large home improvement chains offer products that claim you can fix it with ease with there convenient spray cans.  Truth be told this is a waist of 30 dollars, as you will not be satisfied with the finish.  It will not even come close to professional popcorn ceiling finish.

Weiler Painting has professional texture spray machines that will give you the best chance of blending that unsightly patch with the rest of your ceiling texture.

Now if you have come to the decision that you want a professional to come in and fix your ceiling there are few things you can do to save you some money.  First, before we arrive, make a plastic curtain around the area you want patched approx. 3 or more feet past the bare patch.  2nd, If you are handy with drywall mud and drywall has been removed from the ceiling you can re-install the drywall and use drywall and tape to patch the seams.

We usually have to apply another coat of drywall mud ourselves to get the patch perfect for texture spray.  Most modern textures are very light and will not hide any imperfections in the drywall so proper prep is vital.

Once we have spray texture the ceiling patch the entire area will need to be painted in order to look right as the new sprayed texture is always a different shade of white than the existing texture.  Painting yourself can also save you some money and keep the cost of repair down.
